Former Minister Mickky Pacheco on Thursday unveiled plans to contest the upcoming 2027 Assembly election from Benaulim, while saying that wife Viola would throw her hat in the election ring from Nuvem.
“I have been elected thrice as MLA from Benaulim by the people of the constituency. Hence, I have decided to contest the coming polls from Benaulim”, he told the media on Thursday.
Reminding that he had also made it to the Goa Legislative Assembly from Nuvem, the former Minister said wife Viola would contest the election from the constituency.
Admitting that the Congress did not respond to his message conveyed through the media on the upcoming poll, Mickky charged that a section of the Congress leadership is hand in gloves with the BJP.
“The Congress has a history of selling tickets to the highest bidder. We had seen this in the 2022 election. We have heard these allegations in the recently held Tamil Nadu election. We have no faith in the Congress leaders. Hence, I have decided to chalk out my future course of action after consulting my well wishers across Goa”, he added.
To a question, he ruled out the possibility of floating a new political party, but hastened to add that he would take a soon take a decision how to go about the election.
Meanwhile, Pacheco has urged the Ramnagar police station in Karnataka to conduct a detailed criminal investigation/re-investigation into what he termed as a suspicious and unexplained death of Dr Ketan Bhatikar projected as a snake bite.
