The Colva police has arrested one person on the allegation of fraudulently withdrawing money amounting to Rs 9.26 lakh of an inmate of an old age home from her bank account.
Complainant Guilhermina Dcosta, inmate Dr. Rafael Asilo Benaulim, presently staying at Andheri West Mumbai has alleged that from December 1, 2016 to July 9, 2024 at Dr Rafael Asilo, Old Age home, Benaulim, the accused person Joaquim Manuel Dsilva, a committee member of the Old Age home, Benaulim has allegedly fraudulently withdrawn the money to the tune of Rs. 9,26,948/- from the bank account belonging to the complainant by using Bank ATM and Bank Cheque book which were entrusted to him by the complainant for safe custody and to provide basic amenities and basic physical needs.
Further, the accused person had allegedly mentally harassed and induced the complainant to handover the gold ornaments weighing about 200 grams amount not known belonging to the complainant for safe custody, but were allegedly misappropriated by the accused person for his personal gain.
During investigation, the Colva police has arrested the accused person in the crime and has been remanded to two days Police Custody by JMFC Margao.
