OLD GOA

The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) President Manoj Parab as well as St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar have exuded confidence that their party will only continue to grow.

Speaking to The Goan, Parab informed that theirs is a party with passionate supporters who are working on the ground to take the party to greater heights.

“When a party has such passionate supporters, then that party only continues to grow,” Parab said and informed that this time around the vote share of RGP will cross the 10% it got in the Assembly polls.

On his part, MLA Borkar informed that today only the RGP revolutionaries are seen on the ground taking up various issues affecting Goa and Goans.

“Our revolutionaries are working tirelessly to save the identity of the Goans who are getting marginalised in their own land and this has attracted a lot of people to the party,” Borkar stated, while adding that the momentum that the party gained in the 2022 Assembly elections will be carried on to the Lok Sabha elections where the party will emerge victorious in both the seats.

DIFFERENCES

To a question on some leaders leaving RGP due to differences and whether it would impact the party, Parab said that in every organisation, there are differences due to which some leaders prefer to disassociate.

“However, at the same time many other leaders have joined the party. So, there is no question of such an exercise having any negative impact on RGP,” Parab opined.

MLA Borkar said that though some leaders left the party, many of them are still in touch and are still supporting the party.

“They may have distanced themselves over some differences but they still acknowledge that they were part of a revolution called RGP and they continue to be close to us,” Borkar replied diplomatically.

CONFIDENCE

When questioned by The Goan about how he foresees a win in North Goa when he lost both the Assembly seats that he contested in the Assembly polls, Parab informed that the Assembly polls were their first elections.

“And at that time, I could not dedicate enough time in both the constituencies as I had to concentrate in the entire State. But, today I can totally concentrate in North Goa as there is a separate team in South Goa. So, this time around I am able to meet each and every voter, which would prove to be the major difference. Also, one should not forget that despite not campaigning much during the Assembly polls, I got over 11,500 votes,” Parab stated.

STIGMA

When pointed out that the migrants vote factor plays a major role in the Lok Sabha polls and with RGP perceived as an ‘anti-migrant’ party, how would it overcome that factor, Parab stated that his party is only against unlawful activities of the migrants.

“We are not against law-abiding citizens. Also, many people who have made Goa as their home are in touch with us and are supporting us,” Parab added.

MLA Borkar too echoed the same sentiments and informed that people from other States are also supporting RGP in its fight to save Goa.

“They too are concerned about the state of affairs in the State and they too want that a party like RGP should be given representation in the Parliament so that issues concerning Goa are raised at the national level. Today, Goa’s MPs be it from the BJP or the Congress have remained mute towards the issues concerning Goa and Goans, and people from all walks of life are looking towards RGP as the only political party working towards the welfare of the State,” Borkar opined.
