South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes on Monday submitted a notice under rule 377 to the Lok Sabha Speaker in respect of the construction of the bandhara at Mirabag across Zuari river.
He informed that he has submitted the notice to the Lok Sabha Speaker as promised to the people of Mirabag and surrounding villages, who have been waging an agitation against the bandhara project.
The South Goa MP has urged the Central Government to scrap the planned bandhara as it will result in over 500 houses, besides temples getting submerged in the water.
Fernandes has charged the state government for bringing the ill-conceived project without conducting any study nor consulting the stakeholders.
The South Goa MP was part of the agitation by the protestors from Mirabag held at the Lohia Maidan earlier this month, as he participated in the jail bharo agitation followed by a dharna at the Margao police station.
