Agassaim police have arrested a 24-year-old in connection with the murder of a local, whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase outside Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, on Sunday afternoon.
The accused, Hritik Solanki, a native of Nagpur in Maharashtra, was apprehended near Vasco railway station for allegedly killing Santosh Kambli.
Superintendent of Police (North) Akshat Kaushal said preliminary investigations suggested a financial dispute led to the murder of the 39-year-old victim.
Kambli’s body with a deep head wound was found concealed beneath clothing inside a suitcase. A sealed whiskey bottle and several household items were also recovered from the crime scene.
An FIR was registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and a joint team from Agassaim and Calangute police stations launched the investigation and worked on the case, solving it in 72 hours.
