According to police officials, the incident came to light on May 19, at about 3.30 pm, when Shaila Ghadi was found dead in her house at Chikne-Kudnem.

During the preliminary inquiry, the victim’s son, Shubham Ghadi, informed police that the accused, Sagar Ramesh Rawool (34) of Malaiwadi in Shirshinge-Sawantwadi had allegedly trespassed into the house and murdered the victim due to a personal grudge.

Police stated that the accused was reportedly upset after his marriage proposal to the victim’s younger daughter was rejected. Following the crime, Rawool allegedly fled from the scene after stealing a gold chain and the victim’s mobile phone.

Investigators further revealed that the accused allegedly contacted the victim’s elder daughter over the phone, confessed to the murder, and threatened to kill her and other family members.
