Residents of Talewada and Ashewada in Bethora-Ponda have been hit by acute water shortage and have been forced to rely on water tankers.

The population of Ashewada has increased due to an influx of migrants. Due to the large number of labourers living in rented rooms, local people face a water problem.

To mitigate the sufferings of the people, the PWD has been supplying water through tankers on alternate days.

The water tanker releases water to barrels placed in front of houses, and locals have to place the barrels in a row in front of their houses to get the water.

To ensure smooth water supply to residents of Ashewada, the PWD had dug a tube well a few months ago. However, only a few residents get water supply from this tube well, which is operated only twice a day, and they are not happy with the supply of water through the tube well.

Even in Talewada, locals are supplied water on alternate days and that too for a limited time period.

The PWD had laid a water pipeline from the Opa water treatment plant to Bethora to supply water to residents.

Locals of Ashewada and Talewada wards are annoyed as this pipeline was not extended to their areas.

The residents in both wards have now demanded that their villages also be connected to the Opa water treatment plant.
