The gram sabha of the Aquem-Baixo village panchayat was adjourned after panch members raised objections to the timings of the meeting.
Sarpanch Pradeep Acharya had convened the meeting on Sunday at 9.15 am to discuss and approve the budget estimates for the current financial year. Deputy sarpanch Natasha Dias chaired the meet in the absence of the sarpanch.
Panch members led by Inacio Dias and others, however, questioned the 9.15 am timing mentioned in the meeting agenda, when the gram sabha meetings in the past used to take place at 10 am.
They pointed out that people, who attend the religious services on Sunday mornings, will not be able to make it to the gram sabhas if the meetings are held at 9.15 am.
After much discussion, the deputy sarpanch adjourned the meeting.
Meanwhile, the gram sabha of Betalbatim village panchayat on Sunday approved a surplus budget for the current financial year.
