The Goa State Commission for Women (GSCW), in collaboration with PoSH consultancy SARVAM, organised a capacity-building workshop for Internal Committee (IC) members of various government departments on September 11 at Instituto de Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji. The training aimed to enhance awareness and strengthen the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (PoSH) Act, 2013.

The workshop was inaugurated by Sudeep Jain, IAS, Member Secretary of the National Commission for Women, New Delhi, as the Chief Guest, and Jyoti Desai, Director of the Directorate of Women & Child Development (DWCD), as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by GSCW Chairperson Ranjita Pai and Member Secretary Upasana Mazgaonkar.

Training was conducted by DWCD-empanelled PoSH trainer and SARVAM founder Ashwini Patwardhan, supported by legal experts Adv Siddhi Parodkar and Adv Deepali Kare.

More than 375 officers from nearly 30 government departments participated in the workshop, underlining the State’s commitment to creating safe and inclusive workplaces.

So far, SARVAM has conducted over 250 awareness sessions and workshops, reaching more than 6,500 participants across government and corporate organisations.

Speaking on the occasion, GSCW Chairperson Ranjita Pai said the collaboration with SARVAM would help create safer workplaces across Goa. Member Secretary Upasana Mazgaonkar highlighted the importance of making the subject simple for IC members to understand, while DWCD Director Jyoti Desai commended SARVAM’s role in simplifying complex provisions of the Act.

Patwardhan urged IC members to act as “PoSH warriors”, stressing that collaboration between public and private sectors was essential to achieve large-scale awareness and impact.

The workshop marked an important step towards strengthening institutional capacity, ensuring compliance, and promoting a culture of dignity and respect at workplaces.
