Having faced the innumerable difficulties along the road to felicitate the outstanding performers of last year, the Tiatr Academy of Goa finally managed to celebrate their achievements, with the widely tipped successful artists walking away with accolades
The Tiatr Academy of Goa presented the Konkani Song and MusicAwards 2011 to the winners at a glittering function held at the Conference hallof the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao last week. Dayanand Mandrekar, the Hon’bleMinister for Art and Culture was the Chief Guest present, while DoctorFrancisco Colaco, an eminent cardiologist and music lover, was the Guest ofHonour.
The Audio album ‘Tum Mhozo’ produced by Elffio Fernandes bagged the TAG’sKonkani song and music award for the Best Konkani Audio Album for the year2011. The award consisted a cash prize of Rs. 20,000/-, a certificate and atrophy.
Aniceto Lourenco was adjudged the ‘Best Male Singer’ for the year 2011 for hissolo song ‘Moga Zav Raji’ from the album ‘Dessak Bhettoy’. Mumbai based NephieRod, the melodious singer, won the ‘Best Female Singer’ award for her solorendition ‘Dhol re Nadda’ in the album ‘Shanni Masti’.
The Best Duo/Duet/Trio award was won by Acacio Pereira and Silvia for theirduet ‘Jivit Tum’ from the album ‘Tum Mhozo’. There were two winners in theChoral Song category of ‘Best Choral song’ of the year 2011. The winners wereSoccorro de St. Cruz, Aniceto Lourenco and Andrew D’Souza for their song‘Respet Man’ from the album ‘Portuguez Passport’, and Cyril Almeida-Benny J.Rebello for their song ‘Chukleli Vatt’ from the album ‘Hoch Inam Mhozo’.
The best lyricist award for the year 2011 went to Socorro de St. Cruz for thesong ‘Jivit’ from the album ‘Portuguez Passport’. The Best Music Composer Awardwas won by Filipe Barreto for the beautiful music composition of the song‘Vailankanni Saibinn’ from the album ‘Sobit Sopnam’. All the individual Awardeesreceived a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-, a certificate and a trophy.
No prizes were awarded in the Best Child Singer Male and Best ChildSinger Female of the year since there were insufficient entries in the categorythis year.
In his brief address Prince Jacob, President of the TAG made a strong case forenhancement of the annual grants to TAG to Rs. 30 lakhs to enable them to carryforwards all their projects and schemes. At the same time he requested theGovernment to assist the TAG in buying additional space adjacent to the present TAG premises which will be utilized toset up a Museum to display exclusive tiatr related artefacts and memorabilia.
