Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Luizinho Faleiro on Monday declared that with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party speaking against its own ruling alliance partner, the BJP has lost the mandate.

On this backdrop, Faleiro insisted that the BJP has no right to continue to remain in office and called for dissolution of the legislative assembly for imposition of President’s Rule.
Speaking at Congress House, Faleiro stated, “It is an eloquent testimony when an insider, a minister and partner of the present government, makes such a confession before the public. It is a sad
commentary on the present ruling alliance. Never in the history of ruling party has a minister mocked his own chief minister.”
Faleiro evoked the parliamentary tenet of collective responsibility and sought to point out that with the MGP’s support waning, BJP has lost the mandate.
The Congress president expressed confidence that the ensuing Assembly elections will be between Congress and MGP. BJP will be far behind, he asserted.
Leader of Opposition Pratapsingh Rane added that when a minister asks the CM to step down, not much is left to say about the standing of the ruling alliance. However, the party refused to confirm whether the Congress would extend a proposal of an alliance to the MGP. “When basic ideas vary to a great extent, alliances cannot be forged solely for political conveniences,” Faleiro stated. He pointed out, “Despite trouble, the two ruling partners are yet to part ways. We will wait and see.”
Political tussle: Cumbharjua block committee replaced
PANAJI: Citing inactivity of the Cumbarjua Block Congress Committee and its lack of enthusiasm vis a vis the ongoing Jan Jagruti Yatra, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee on Monday announced a political surgical strike on the entire block.
Announcing the dissolution of the entire block committee, GPCC informed that the block committee has been replaced by a temporary committee comprising 12 convenors and 103 members.
GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro had previously claimed that the party, through its block, has identified several fresh faces in the Cumbarjua Assembly segment as its present MLA Pandurang Madkaikar is believed to be in talks ruling alliance.
The GPCC president had stated there was no worry over the possible departure of Madkaikar.
The Cumbarjua Congress committee members have stated they will stand by the MLA till he formally exits the party.
