Reiterating his demand for the removal of Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho from the Cabinet, Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should drop Godinho and prove that the government was not part of any conspiracy in the Gautam Khattar case.

Sardesai further questioned why the saffron brigade was bringing specialists from North India to divide the people of Goa on religious lines. “What is the need to bring people like Gautam Khattar to Goa? Has the BJP nothing to showcase from its achievements of the last five years?” he asked.

Saying the BJP may hope to benefit from the ongoing tit-for-tat war over the remarks on St Francis Xavier and the subsequent derogatory remarks made against Hindu gods and deities, Sardesai said the people of Goa are wise enough to understand the game plan unfolding in the state.

“Godinho should be sacked from the Cabinet for inviting people to attend the programme and then endorsing Khattar’s remarks on St Francis Xavier. If the Transport Minister is not sacked, it would imply that the government is part of the conspiracy to invite Khattar to Goa,” he added.

The Goa Forward chief also slammed the government for failing to protect traditional fishermen from illegal fishing activities by outstation boats.
