Do Dong Hyun, who played a pivotal role in East Bengal's Kolkata League triumph recently, has decided to pen a long term deal with the Red and Gold to extend his stay in the City of Joy.
Dong scored 12 goals in the league, including a stunning brace against arch-rivals Mohun Bagan and was the breakout star of the tournament. The East Bengal officials have reacted quickly to ensure that the former Brisbane Roar player continues playing for their side and the the player will now stay at the club for another couple of seasons.
While the club officially didn't disclose the length of the new deal, Debabrata Sarkar, a top official of the club informed that it will be 'two-to-three year contract' with the player. Sources within the club insisted that the player will stay with East Bengal until the end of the 2017-18 season, while some reports suggested his contract will run down at the end of 2018-19 season.
"I am already in love with the fans, the atmosphere and the co-players here. All these combined have played a part in me taking this decision," Dong said at a press conference at the club on Saturday morning.
Dong is expected to be back in Kolkata on October 1, 2015.
