Accordingly, some 3,000-odd applications have been received. But since then, there has been no progress in the matter and no interviews have been scheduled so far,” he stated. It was learnt that 10 of these posts were filled on compassionate grounds and that 83 continue to remain vacant. Representatives of the Union held a meeting with GMC Dean Dr Pradeep Naik in order to seek a permanent solution to their issues. However, with that round of discussion remaining inconclusive, both the parties approached Secretary of Health Sudhir Mahajan. Following the meeting, Health secretary Mahajan handed over the charge of Group D staff to the Director of Administration of GMC with immediate effect. He also directed GMC authorities to expedite the process to fill the pending vacancies for 83 posts.
