Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told the state legislativeassembly that the investigation will be carried out and charge sheeted within60 days. “For free and fair investigation [the] police has decided to keep himunder suspension,” the Chief Minister said. Manohar Parrikar was responding toa calling attention motion called by Nuvem MLA Francisco (aka Mickkey) Pacheco.Pacheco has urged the Govt to conduct a thorough investigation.
Chandru, in his dying declaration on 28th June 2011, has namedPolice Inspector Praveen Kumar Vast as harassing him. He has also said in hisstatement that he took Ratol only out of frustration and torture he faced.Gawas had also mentioned some senior officials but none were named. The Panjimpolice were initially investigating the case in May 2012, the dying declarationwas handed over to investigation office by the court.
