Sawant seeks approval to reclaim Campal military hospital land

The Goa government has urged Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to consider a proposal to reclaim the land currently occupied by the Military Hospital at Campal, opposite Kala Academy, for public use.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday met Singh with series of proposals including sanctioning of one Sainik School in the State.

According to the statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Sawant met Singh and discussed key issues including the early operationalization of the HEMRO unit in Goa.

“Also discussed relocation of the Panaji Military and Dental hospital to facilitate public use of the existing space and the proposal for sanctioning one Sainik School in the State,” CMO said.

The hospital has got a total area of 5200 sq mtrs.

Earlier in the day, Sawant met Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and had discussion on strengthening export support for Goa, with a specific request for the establishment and operationalization of an APEDA office in the State to boost the export of agricultural produce of Goa.
