Marathi bonanza for Goa

Its back and its better! Its time for Marathi film lovers everywhere to rejoice as Goa Marathi Film Festival returns for the eight edition. Scheduled to delight movie goers from July 17 to 19, the festival will see the screening of some critically acclaimed movies like Dr Prakash Baba , Elizabeth Ekdashi, Happy Journey, Khwada, Court, Time Pass 2, Sugar Salt and Prem etc. The much awaited festival will be inagurated on July 17 at 6 pm at Kala Academy followed by the world premiere of of the Marathi movie Highway. The film marks the Marathi film debut of Bollywood actress' Huma Querishi and Tisca Chopra and is based on the theme of urbanisation and the effects it has on our lives. The other stars include Girish Kulkarni, Mukta Barve, Renuka Shahane, Nagraj Manjule, and Sunil Barve.

The festival will also witness the highly anticipated premiere of Partu, Hollywood's first Marathi feature film by award winning director Nitin Adsul. Set in the backdrop of 1968, the film follows the story of a young boy in search of his biological family. The other movie set to premiere is Gajendra Ahire 's Milkanth Master, a love story set in pre-independence Maharasthra.

The festival will also honour two senior veteran actors Ramesh and Seema Deo with the special

‘Kritadnyata Puraskar’ as a tribute for their exemplary contribution to the World of Cinema.

Apart from a workshop on 'Releasing Marathi Movies in Maharashtra' by Girish Wankhede, for the first time the festival will also have the 'Goa Film Festival Screenwriters Point', a contest for aspiring scriptwriters to send in their scripts out of which the best will be picked for production by a reputed production house in Mumbai.
