Firm asked to explain operations sans trade licence

The Mollem Panchayat in Dharbandora taluka has issued a show-cause notice to the proprietor of M/s Parsekar Foods Pvt Ltd, in connection with the food processing unit at Palaskata-Molem
As per the notice dated April 25, the Panchayat has stated that the establishment has been functioning without a valid trade licence, as the earlier licence granted to the unit and transferred to the present proprietor in June 2024 has since expired.
Despite this, the unit is reportedly continuing its commercial activities, prompting action from the local authority.
The Panchayat further noted that the proprietor had submitted a reply on April 21, in response to earlier complaints regarding the operation of the unit. However, during a Panchayat body meeting held on April 22, the explanation provided was found to be unsatisfactory, leading to the present show-cause notice.
In the notice, the Panchayat has directed the proprietor to furnish a satisfactory explanation within seven days from the date of receipt as to why the premises should not be sealed for operating without a valid licence.
It has also warned that failure to respond within the stipulated period would result in the premises being sealed without any further notice.
The panchayat has maintained that the action is being initiated in the interest of public health, safety and to ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
