Newly elected Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson Dr Nutan Bicholkar on Friday assured to work towards resolving issues plaguing Mapusa city.
She was speaking after being officially declared elected unopposed as the chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council.
Her appointment was announced by the election officer Deputy Collector Uday Prabhu Desai, at a special MMC meeting on Friday. He was assisted by MMC Chief Officer Chandrakant Shetkar.
Councillors Anand Bhaidar, Chandrashekhar Benkar and Kamal D’Souza were absent at the meeting. Dr Bicholkar had filed three nominations, and all three were accepted as valid.
During the two years and nine months duration of the present tenure of MMC, there have been three mayors – Shubhangi Vaingankar, Priya Mishal and Nutan Bicholkar.
Shortly after being declared elected as chairperson, Dr Bicholkar assured to resolve the issues confronting Mapusa city and they include parking and traffic congestion.
