Hot and humid conditions continued to prevail across Goa even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a brief spell of rain and thunderstorms on two days.

As per the bulletin issued on Tuesday, dry and partly cloudy conditions are likely to persist over North and South Goa, with no warnings in place. However, a change in weather is expected from March 18, with light rain or thundershowers likely at isolated places, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph.

The IMD further stated that similar conditions are expected on March 19, after which weather is likely to turn dry again with mainly sunny skies from March 21 onwards.

Amid these conditions, temperatures in the coastal State remain above normal. The maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C. Night-time conditions also remained uncomfortable, with temperatures hovering around 30°C and “feels like” temperatures touching 35°C.

The IMD has attributed prevailing weather patterns across the country to larger atmospheric systems, including a subtropical westerly jet stream with wind speeds of around 90 knots at an altitude of 12.6 km over north India, along with a fresh western disturbance likely to affect northwest India.
