Bharatiya Janata Party South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo has  said she would work tirelessly for the entire community at large after her election to Parliament.

After submitting her nomination papers to the Returning Officer Asvin Chandru in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Ministers Ravi Naik, Ramkrishna Dhavlikar, Alexio Sequeira and Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, Pallavi said she has come across issues such as employment, skilling and women empowerment during her visit to the constituency. She, however, said no one has brought to her notice the issue of mining during her campaign.

She declined to go into the controversial Mhadei issue saying the matter is sub judice and is pending in the court.  On fears raised in certain quarters that she may not visit South Goa after the election, Pallavi sought to allay the apprehensions saying she would open an office right in Margao.

After coming out of the office of the Returning officer after filing her nomination papers for the South Goa seat, Pallavi said “I commit myself to uphold the ideals of the party and work tirelessly for the entire community at large. I express my gratitude to the BJP central leadership as well as the state leadership for giving me an opportunity to contest the election”, she said.

While declining to comment on the potshots made by the Opposition at her, Pallavi said  “I am focusing on positive campaigning. I do not want to speak about opposition.”

When asked whether she has come up with any issues during her visit to the constituency, Pallavi cited employment, skilling, education and women empowerment as some of the issues that were raised during her campaign.

On track doubling and issues centered on making Goa a coal hub, Pallavi wriggled out of the contentious issues which have taken centre stage in the ensuing election, by saying the views of the BJP are final.

When a scribe pressed for her comment saying coal, besides double tracking are the issues that need solutions, Pallavi said “You know the views of the party. My views are similar to those of the party. The party views are final. What is said by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the party on these issues is final”.

When another scribe drew her attention to the issue of mega housing staring at the villagers of Sancoale, wherein around 650 flats and 70 villas are proposed in the village, Pallavi said both environment and development should go hand in hand.
