An internal inquiry conducted by the Goa Police's top brass into a recruitment process for police sub-inspectors has found irregularities in the case of two candidates, who had actually failed the physical test but were marked 'passed'.

A senior police officer said five committees were formed to review the entire recruitment process after complaints were received alleging hanky-panky in the process.

Video footage of the entire physical efficiency test of the recruitment process was reviewed by these five committees and it was found that in the case of two candidates, although they had failed, were marked as "passed".

The top officer said, the Police Establishment Board, headed by the Director General of Police will take a call on the inquiry findings in consultation with the government.

The recruitment process to fill around 140-odd PSI posts had been initiated before the February 2022 assembly elections but was halted after the Election Commission imposed the model code of conduct.
