At the eve of the high-profile AFC Champions League Two clash between FC Goa and Al-Nassr, the joint press conference held on Tuesday was marked by anticipation, tactical insights, and one glaring omission -- Cristiano Ronaldo.

Al-Nassr head coach Jorge Jesus addressed the elephant in the room early on. “Cristiano has stayed back in Riyadh to rest and prepare for our next Saudi Pro League fixture,” he confirmed.

“We’ve taken a decision to manage his game time carefully, especially for matches outside Riyadh. He’s targeting a sixth World Cup appearance, and we’re supporting that goal”.

The Portuguese tactician emphasized that the team remains focused and confident.

“We’ve won our previous ACL2 matches without him. João Félix, Sadio Mané, and Iñigo Martínez are more than capable of leading us tomorrow,” he added.

FC Goa head coach Manolo Márquez acknowledged the disappointment among fans but remained pragmatic. “Of course, everyone wanted to see Ronaldo. But this is still a world-class team. Our focus is on the eleven players on the pitch,” he said.

FC Goa captain Brandon Fernandes echoed the sentiment: “Fatorda will be packed. Ronaldo or not, we’re ready to give our best. This is a chance to show Indian football’s growth.”

Despite Ronaldo’s absence, the press conference highlighted the mutual respect between the clubs. Jorge Jesus praised FC Goa’s technical style and the passion of Indian fans. “It’s our first time in India. The welcome has been fantastic,” he said.

With kickoff less than 24 hours away, the stage is set for a memorable night, even without its biggest star -- Ronaldo.
