A 77-year-old woman was found dead in the Mandovi River near Sameer Bar at Ecoxim in Salvador do Mundo on Tuesday morning.
Porvorim Fire Station Incharge D G Pednekar said the fire station had been informed that a female body with a saree was found floating and stuck in a fishing net in the water near the jetty behind Sameer bar and restaurant Ecoxim.
Firefighters later retrieved the body and handed it over to the Porvorim Police station.
Police conducted investigations and the deceased was identified as Mhalkumi Mhalu Naik (77) of Bambordem-Moira, who had been reported missing since Sunday.
The body was been sent to the GMC hospital at Bambolim for an autopsy and Porvorim PSI Arun Shirodkar is conducting further investigation.
