To ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the annual five-day feast of Our Lady of Miracles in Sanguem, beginning Saturday, May 17, Mamlatdar and Chief Officer of Sanguem Municipal Council, Siddharth Prabhu, convened an urgent meeting with heads of various administrative departments.

Prabhu directed all officials to stay vigilant and ensure the event proceeds without incident. The meeting was prompted by a written request from Councillor Meshu D’Costa to Deputy Collector Milind Velip, citing concerns following the recent mishap at the Lairai Zatra in Shirgao.

Attendees included Chairperson of the Sanguem Municipal Council Santiksha Gadkar, Fire Services Inspector Damodar Zambaulikar, Health Officer Tulsimata Kakodkar, Police Inspector Ditendra Naik, Sub-Inspector Premanand Naik, Traffic Sub-Inspector Waman Patil, Councillor Meshu D’Costa, and others.

Key decisions included the deployment of police personnel at strategic points to curb hooliganism and theft. Traffic police will implement one-way routes to streamline vehicle movement, and parking will be arranged near the cemetery, adjacent to the police station.

The fire brigade will station a fire tender in Sanguem 24/7 throughout the feast, while the Health Department will keep a 108 ambulance on standby. In case of emergencies, stalls obstructing fire and ambulance access along the main road will be removed immediately.

Police Inspector Naik assured that traffic control and public safety will be maintained with necessary police deployment.
