Speaking to The Goan, Ajgaonkar appealed to the people of Pernem constituency to support him to complete the projects. In 2007, when Ajgaonkar was the Sports Minister, he had proposed to build a sports complex at Dhargal by acquiring 9.10 lakh square metres of land, but the farmers had opposed the move and his project got shelved after he lost power in the 2012 elections. Back at the helm of the Sports department, Ajgaonkar now plans to build a cricket village at the land acquired for the sports complex.
Meanwhile, at the Sawalwada playground, there are 26 workers to take care of the facility. Two workers are employed on a permanent basis, while the other 24 are contracted workers. Some of these staff have been working at the facility for the past 10-15 years.
