Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has cautioned youth and parents to be careful and to avoid drug trafficking traps, especially offered large amounts of money by foreigners or tourists offering to carry a parcel.
Emphasising the need for collective action to build a Nashamukt (drug-free) Goa, the chief minister appealed to youth and parents not to fall prey to such offers, especially since the lure of easy money has attracted people into drug trading and trafficking.
Sawant was speaking after flagging off a rally organised by Bicholim Police Station to commemorate International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The Anti-Narcotics Cell is conducting campaigns in various places across the State, and Bicholim Police Inspector Vijay Rane and his team organised special rallies and awareness camps in schools and colleges throughout the day in Sakhali and other areas in Bicholim taluka.
The chief minister called upon parents to ensure that their children do not get carried away by the attraction to earn money by carrying parcels.
“It is important for the young generation to be aware of these dangers. All sections of society need to show the resolve to eradicate this trend,” said Sawant.
PI Vijay Rane spoke about the rally and awareness campaign and appealed to all people to participate in this campaign and cooperate in making Goa a drugs-free state.
