Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on Thursday confirmed that the upcoming Sunburn Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival will have a dedicated stage for Goan artists; a new initiative at the global event after the State government imposed this condition on the organizers to be allowed to host their event in the coastal State this year.

“One dedicated stage will be allocated for Goan artists during the three days festival from December 28. The event will also have Goan village and other opportunities for our local artists,”

he said.

Prior to his meeting with the officials of the Tourism Department, Percept Live announced the inception of ‘Goa Village’ stating this exclusive and special Cultural Zone will be dedicated to showcasing and promoting the vibrant art, culture, cuisine and lifestyle of Goa from locally established and upcoming talents.

Khaunte has hailed the initiative claiming the talent of Goan artists will be witnessed by visitors from across the globe.

“This is a very good initiative from Sunburn and I am sure the Goa Village at the festival will accurately showcase the varied and rich Goan culture to the entire world at such a big international platform. Local Goans need a platform to perform and display their talent on stage. I am sure that visitors to Sunburn will also learn about and enjoy the vast art and culture that Goa has to offer,” he stated.

Sunburn has invited both recognized and upcoming talent residing in Goa to co-create the ‘Goa Village’ by contributing their unique talent to display the unique flavours of Goa.

The invite extends into multiple domains spanning music including DJs, bands and singers, dancers, ancillary performers, a variety of entertainers, chefs, mixologists, artists and designers in order to ensure it showcases the vast and prolific history, art and culture of Goa.

“Given the close relationship Sunburn has shared with Goa over the past 16 years, the announcement of the ‘Goa Village’ is our way of paying back and thanking the beautiful destination of Goa and its people for all their love and support they have given us into making Sunburn the global iconic success that it is today,” Sunburn CEO Karan Singh said in a media statement issued on Thursday.

Sunburn 2022 has declared ‘The Future Is Now’ as the festival’s underlying theme.
