Teddy Cardozo, a class XII student of the Fr Agnel Institute, Pilar won the half marathon (21km) at the Rotary Rain Run 2017 which took place at the SAG stadium, Bambolim on Sunday. Teddy clocked a quick time of 1 h 20m 56s.

A total of 1,500 runners took part in this third edition of the charity run held to support free cancer detection tests among women. Teddy, who is coached by Digamber Narvekar, a Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) coach, said that he was training hard to represent Goa in the 10,000 metres event in the next National Games.
Teddy was followed by Sanjay Gaude ( 1h 30m 35s) and Vinayak Gaonkar (1 hr 35m and 53s).
In the women's 21 km race, Rajashri Tarihal won the first place in 1h 40m 20s and Sunil Kumar won the 21 km in the defence category in 1h 24m 27s. The 10km men's open category race was won by Raghavendra Chuttidar in 37m 27s, Prashila Deikar won the women's 10km category in 47m 39s and Albin Mathew won the 10 km defence category in 35m 58s.
Sandeep Morajkar, a visually challenged runner from Calangute, creditably completed the 21km half marathon race, while about 700 runners took part in the 5 km run. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar gave away the prizes in the presence of Revenue minister Rohan Khaunte.
