Two persons suffered grievous leg injuries in a collision between a car and a bike in Siolim on Wednesday evening.
According to police, the two-wheeler rider was on his way to Siolim and the car was travelling to Chopdem.
On reaching near the Siolim Bridge, both vehicles collided with each another, seriously injuring the rider and the pillion.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the Bullet motorcycle broke into two halves.
Both the rider, Nikilesh Pednekar (26) of Vasco and pillion rider, Ravina Gadekar (22) of Carraswaddo suffered serious fractures to their legs. Both were first moved to Siolim PHC, from where they were transferred to the District Hosptial, Mapusa. Later, both were shifted to GMC hospital at Bambolim.
Traffic was halted for more than an hour on both sides of the bridge due to the accident.
The car driver, Omkar Belgade of Pune, has been arrested and Anjuna Police is conducting further investigation.
