Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday stated that the Goa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Curti in Ponda will commence with the student admission for 2026–27 academic year.

While briefing the media, CM Sawant said, “Centre has granted approval for the Goa College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences. BVSc & AH (Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry) courses to begin from this academic year. I appeal students to take admissions.”

The Letter of Permission (LoP) states that the centre has granted permission to the college to offer the programme with an annual intake of 40 students under Goa University.

“I thank the Veterinary Council of India and Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying for allowing this Veterinary college to come up. Students were compelled to go out of Goa to study this course, which they will now be able to do in Goa,” CM Sawant said.

The Veterinary Council of India issued LoP, after finding the proposed institution compliant with prescribed norms relating to land, infrastructure, clinical and livestock facilities, equipment, and other requirements.

The State government has been instructed to ensure full compliance with all regulatory norms, including the appointment of qualified faculty and maintenance of infrastructure and academic standards.
