Arts and Culture Minister Govind Gaude urged the Pagi community to work hard for their own progress, saying no one else will carry their burden. He spoke at the closing ceremony of the three-day Sagar Kala Manthan Melava 2025, organised by the Akhil Goa Kshatriya Pagui Samaj (AGKPS) to mark 40 years of the organisation.
He added, “Dreaming at night does not lead to results. People must dare to daydream and then work towards success. I believe the Pagi community has the talent and ability to achieve great things and improve life for everyone.”
Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar encouraged the community to use government schemes and mentioned a Rs 5 lakh insurance cover for fishermen.
Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar and other leaders also spoke at the event held at Devgi-Purush Hall, Patnem.
The AGKPS App, designed by Raguvendra Kishore Pagui, was launched by Minister Gaude to keep records of community members’ details like education and employment.
Students scoring over 90% in SSC and HSSC were honoured.
Several community members were recognised for their contributions, including ex-Army officer Pandurang Pagi and former panchayat secretary Anand Teshildar.
Former AGKPS presidents were also thanked for their dedication over the years.
The event included cultural performances and awards for the Pagi Premier League teams.
