The State IT Department has begun the process of migrating around 130 government websites and 22 critical applications from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) infrastructure to a new high-capacity cloud environment.
The move comes as the existing hosting arrangement with the NIC-Goa Mini-Cloud nears expiry.
The department stated that the government is looking to select one among 26 empanelled Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) approved by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to host the websites and applications. To avoid any disruption of services, a Request for Proposal (RFP) has been issued to identify a qualified vendor who can ensure a structured and time-bound migration.
The selected vendor will be required to complete the transition within 16 weeks without affecting public services. The proposed infrastructure is expected to operate on a “Hyperscaler” platform capable of managing variable user demand, providing round-the-clock monitoring, and ensuring compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
The contract period is for three years, with a provision for extension up to five years. Officials anticipate that Goa’s digital ecosystem will grow to more than 200 websites and 50 applications in future.
