PANAJI: A group of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa leaders led by MLA Cruz Silva marched to the Panaji Police Station demanding an update on a complaint filed against Taleigao MLA Jennifer Monseratte and her associates. The complaint alleged manhandling and the use of abusive language during an inspection of a mudslide site at Odxel Waddo late Tuesday night.

Initially denied entry into the police station, the AAP delegation was later allowed inside.

“We are here just to get an update on the complaint filed,” MLA Silva told reporters outside the PS while criticising the police for their initial refusal to let the delegation in.

AAP Goa President Amit Palekar expressed disappointment that the complaint had not been registered yet.

“Law and order have taken a backseat. The police told us that no FIR has been registered. They said an inquiry is underway and action will be taken within 24 hours,” he said.

The complaint lodged by AAP member and activist Cecille Rodrigues alleged that Monseratte, accompanied by her aide Sydney Barreto, arrived at the site late at night and hurled abuse at Rodrigues, Francis Coelho and a local youth.

As per the complaint, Barreto forcefully snatched a mobile phone from the youth, smashed it, and pushed him. Further, Monseratte manhandled her during the incident.
