The Bajrang Dal has urged the South Goa District Collector to start a verification process of all the madrasas functioning in South Goa to ensure that no child is being exposed to radical or anti-national teachings.
A delegation led by Goa Bajrang Dal Convenor Viraj Desai called on the district authorities to express its concern regarding a madrasa functioning in the Khareband area of Margao.
The move by the Bajrang Dal assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of citizens’ demand to register and book the person who made a video of a minor speaking against India before making it viral.
The Bajrang Dal leader stated that it has been observed that a minor boy studying in a madrasa has allegedly been openly expressing sentiments of support for Pakistan and hatred towards India. “Such an attitude developing among school-going children is extremely disturbing and raises strong suspicion about the kind of teaching or influence being imparted in the said institution,” he said.
He added: “Bajrang Dal has no objection to any community imparting religious education within the framework of the law. However, if any educational institution is promoting anti-national ideology, communal hatred, or thoughts that may mislead minors against the unity and integrity of India, it becomes a grave threat to national security and social harmony.”
In this respect, the Bajrang Dal has asked the District Collector to verify whether the madrasa in Khareband, Margao, is recognised and registered with the competent authorities. The group also demanded strict legal and administrative action if any institution is found promoting unlawful or anti-national activities.
