Goa Police has tasked BITS Pilani students with developing a mobile application on Tenant Verification, as both institutions have jointly hosted an event titled CreateAthon 2023.
The focus of the event is to ensure the safety and security of the community by developing the App in a way that will record the credentials of the tenants. It will enable the police to track tenants' background, criminal history and other relevant information.
As per details shared by Superintendent of Police (Crime Cell) Nidhin Valsan, students in a group of a minimum two and a maximum of four will have to develop the App with Database Management System. "The App should be able to enable Goa Police to record/enter tenants data online, in real time, with added features like recording their biometrics, Aadhar and Voter ID data," he said.
This process is essential to prevent crimes by tracking the records fed into the system. "By developing this App Goa Police aims to create its database, with which police can keep a tab on criminals and their whereabouts. So also, it will enable police to verify the criminal antecedents of tenants, through other state police, digitally," he said.
The police have claimed that the event is a win win situation for both students and the police as students will get a chance to gain practical solutions in developing a real world solution and the police will benefit from having a reliable and efficient tool.
