Burglars struck at will in the heart of the commercial capital Monday night as they successfully burgled as many as three shops around the Pajifond-Malbhat area.
The burglars effected entry into the shops by bending the shutters.
In one case, the miscreants managed to lift cash of Rs 25,000 from a shop dealing in consumer products. In a second case, the burglars managed to lay their hands on cash of Rs 40,000.
The incident was a talking point amongst the business community on Tuesday as it created a scare among traders. They demanded that the Margao police intensify night patrolling to keep the burglars at bay.
The Margao police requisitioned the services of the forensic team to assist in the investigation into the shutter-bending cases.
