PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced the government’s plan to set up 168 e-libraries across Goa’s panchayats and municipalities, with 20 already operational.
Speaking at the inauguration of the renovated Municipal Library at Ponda Municipality today, along with the E-Vachanalaya (e-library) facility, Sawant said the initiative, backed by the Central government, will expand digital access to books and learning resources across the state.
“This initiative under the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment is designed to strengthen libraries for children and adolescents and build robust digital infrastructure for our community," he said, noting that students and youth will benefit as they prepare for competitive exams, while senior citizens will also have a dedicated reading space.
The Chief Minister added that the Government of Goa is investing in knowledge, nurturing reading habits, and focusing on human development as the state moves towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
