Fake papers used to obtain water, power connections

Concerns have been raised after fake documents were use to obtain water and electricity connections at a house in Ponda.

According to the sources, a woman residing at Silva Nagar noticed that a tenant on the upper floor of her house had obtained electricity and water connections, even though she had not applied for any electricity and water connection.

The woman then inquired with the PWD office at Ponda and was startled to find that the tenant had attached fake documents to the application made for water and electricity.

The aggrieved woman then complained to the Ponda Municipal Council in the matter.

When the PMC investigated the matter, it confirmed that the documents submitted to obtain the electricity and water connections were fake.

PMC Chairperson Anant Naik has said the PMC will conduct an investigation to find out who had prepared the documents and who had used the fake seal of the municipality.

Incidentally, similar incident had happened in Silva Nagar a few days earlier, when a person had obtained a property certificate which was not issued by the PMC. The PMC chief officer later filed a complaint in the matter.
