A woman from Pixem Dongri in Vasco has been booked for allegedly attacking a dog with a knife following a dispute over barking on Tuesday evening.
Francisco D’Souza lodged a police complaint stating that the incident occurred near the State Bank of India in Pixem Dongri at around 5.30 pm when his neighbour, Rhea D’Souza, repeatedly stabbed his pet dog with a knife, leaving it seriously injured.
Acting on the complaint, Vasco Police have registered an offence under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita-2023 and Section 11(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The case is being investigated by LPSI Priyanka Patil under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
Meanwhile, sources said the dog had reportedly bitten the lady on her leg, which had led her to attack the dog.
People in the area also mentioned that the dog would constantly chase her while she would pass by the area on a motorcycle.
