RGP MLA Viresh Borkar has issued a legal notice to Ajay Kholkar over alleged defamatory statements and claims of financial impropriety. This comes after Kholkar challenged Borkar to provide proof of his allegation that he had misappropriated Rs 24 lakh from the party account.
Addressing the media, Borkar demanded an unconditional public apology within three days, warning that failure to comply would invite criminal proceedings and a claim for Rs 6 crore in damages.
Reacting to Kholkar’s threat to end his political career and to let Borkar inspect his house, the MLA said, “To end anyone’s political career, it is the people who will decide because they are the ones who will elect their representative. He is no God to decide anyone’s future.”
Kholkar had also alleged that the protest at the TCP office against Section 39A was a political stunt by Borkar. Responding to this, Borkar said he was not the only person who had participated in the protest, with people from across the state joining to voice their anger against the government. He also pointed out that Kholkar himself was present during the protest.
Borkar further said that he and his supporters were ready to launch another hunger strike, rejecting allegations that their earlier protest was a political stunt. He maintained that they had stood with the people for their cause.
“While some were away on honeymoons, we were protesting on the streets. We are ready to do it again,” Borkar said.
