Good news for highway commuters in Canacona

Rs 75.46 cr nod to acquire land for NH66 4-laning

In a major relief to highway commuters in Canacona, the central government has conveyed its technical, administrative and financial sanction of Rs 75.46 crore to acquire land for the four-laning of NH66 between Char-Rasta (Canacona) and Bendurdem (Quepem).

A communiqué from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Regional Office (Mumbai), signed by Under Secretary to the Government of India, states the approval the actual land acquisition costs of Rs 73.62 crore, besides an addition of 1% of Contingency Charges, 3% of Agency Charges, and 2.5% of Administrative, taking the overall sanctioned amount to Rs 75.46 crore.

The targets for the expenses will be two phases for the Year 2023-24. The first phase will be Rs 30.624 crore (40%), while the second phase for the year 2024-25 will be full completion of Rs 75.46 crore.

The estimate is based on the Government of Goa Land Rates Official Gazette, states the order. The compensation shall be paid to the land losers whose land would be acquired under the relevant notification for the 4-laning works.

There is a proposal to acquire a total of 2,92,308.74 sq. mtrs of land, which consists of Bendordem (64,474.00 sq. mtrs @ Rs 120), Cordem (63,077.53 sq. mtrs @ Rs 240), Barcem (70,381.40 sq. mtrs @ Rs 240/), Padi (17,373.96 sq. mtrs @ Rs 240), Canacona (46,564.08 sq. mtrs @ Rs 300) and Nagorcem-Palolem (30,437.79 sq. mtrs @ Rs 2,400). The total value of land to be acquired works out to Rs 13,09,56,686.19, while compensation to structures and compensation to trees is valued at 3.5 crore.

“The 4-laning land acquisition is a biggest step towards development of Canacona,” said Canacona BJP Block President Vishal Dessai.

“These sanctions received on the auspicious day of Gudi Padwa is a major success for the mission of Vision Canacona-2030, a concept initiated by our Canacona MLA and Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar for the improvement and development of Canacona.”
