Madganvcho Awaaz has said that the failed policies of the BJP government have pushed the nation towards economic distress, foreign exchange strain, and collapsing law and order, adding that the Government, at this rate, may soon ask citizens to drink less water, breathe less, and remain confined to their homes.
Madganvcho Awaaz Prabhav Naik said the manner in which the Goa Government is handling the Mhadei diversion issue has already started affecting Goa’s water security, with declining water levels in dams and drying rivers becoming a serious concern. He further alleged that the Government’s failure to control crime and maintain law and order has pushed Goa towards becoming a “crime capital”, while attempts to convert Goa into a coal transportation hub will have long-term harmful consequences on the health, environment, and future of Goans.
He stated that the appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to citizens must first be implemented by governments themselves through visible austerity measures instead of burdening ordinary people while those in power continue to enjoy luxury at public expense. He said citizens across the country are already struggling with rising prices, unemployment, insecurity, and economic uncertainty.
Naik urged Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to immediately issue a notification suspending all wasteful expenditure on Governor, CM and ministerial convoys, luxury vehicles, lavish events, publicity exercises, and foreign trips. “The Government of Goa must first respond to the Prime Minister’s appeal with action and accountability,” he said.
He further stated that when citizens are repeatedly asked to sacrifice, conserve resources, and tolerate hardships, governments cannot continue functioning with extravagance funded by taxpayers’ money. He warned that unless corrective measures are taken immediately, the growing disconnect between rulers and ordinary citizens would deepen public resentment and distrust in institutions. “Austerity must begin from the top and not be imposed selectively on common people alone,” Naik added.
