Video of tanker discharging sewage in nullah near Fatorda stadium viral

The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has directed Superintendent of Police (SP) South to investigate into the complaint regarding discharge of sewage through tankers in nullah near Fatorda stadium.
The directions were issued by the GSPCB member secretary Sanjeev Joglekar on June 4, based on a complaint filed by the director of Goa Foundation Claude Alvares. A video of tanker discharging sewage into nullah near the stadium had gone viral on social media, last weekend.
The Board informed police, including Fatorda PI, that a vehicle bearing registration number GJ01KT8918 was seen leaving the sewage at the location.
“It is requested that a thorough investigation may please be carried out in the matter,” the Board told police while directing to ensure that the vehicle is seized and the environmental compensation of Rs 25,000 is levied on the person involved in conducting the act.
The Board has asked police to submit action taken report within 15 days.
The Fatorda residents are currently struggling with overflowing sewage menace with authorities failing to act.
