Merciana Vas, wife of Cortalim MLA Anton Vas, filed her nomination papers on Monday as an independent candidate for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections from the Cortalim constituency.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the nomination was filed, Cortalim MLA Anton Vas expressed strong confidence in his wife’s prospects, stating that the people would vote based on her performance and commitment during her earlier tenure.
“Merciana has consistently worked for the people, and the public has seen her dedication firsthand. I am confident they will support her once again because of the work she has already done as a ZP member,” he said.
Speaking to reporters, Merciana Vas thanked the panchayat members and supporters who had gathered in her favour.
“I am humbled by the confidence shown in me by people from across the constituency. My focus has always been on addressing issues at the village level, and I will continue working with the same commitment and sincerity,” she said.
