2 BJP nominees, one each from Cong, GFP file papers

Two BJP candidates and one each from the Congress and Goa Forward Party (GFP) were among those who filed their nomination papers for the ZP polls before the Canacona Returning Officer on Monday.
Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar and former deputy chief minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar were present when BJP candidates Ajay (Ajit) Lolienkar (Poinguinim) and Tejal Pagi (Khola) submitted their nomination papers at the Canacona BDO Office.
Congress leader and Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa accompanied Khola ZP Congress candidate Sumitra Pagi when she filed her nomination. Prashant Naik of GFP (Congress-GFP alliance) was the first to file his nomination papers and he was accompanied by the former minister Isidore Fernandes. Incidentally, Congress rebel candidate and former Khotigao sarpanch Daya Gaonkar also submitted his nomination papers.
“I am contesting ZP polls to win, and it is not important for me who gets defeated. I am a cCngressman and all Congressmen are wholly working for me. Once I get elected, I will continue to remain a Congressman,” he said.
Ajay (Ajit) Lolienkar, who was accompanied by Sports Minister Tawadkar and Poingunim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar, said the grassroots BJP karyakarta would undoubtedly secure his win at the Poinguinim ZP polls.
BJP’s Tejal Pagi was also accompanied by Tawadkar while she filed her nomination papers.
Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa, who accompanied Congress (Khola) candidate Sumitra Pagi to submit her nomination papers, said he is not aware of any alliance with GFP.
