With RGP making an out-of-the-blue offer to the Congress on seat sharing for Lok Sabha polls and that too at the eleventh hour, doubts were being expressed whether the fear factor of losing the polls has crept within the party ranks.

However, when 'The Goan' put forth the question to RGP chief Manoj Parab, he said that they are making the offer just to make clear to the Goans that RGP is willing to ally with the Congress.

“It is not out of fear that we are making the offer but it is due to the campaign of Congress where they are blaming RGP for failing to strike an alliance,” Parab stated.

To another question of whether the offer has come too late, Parab remained adamant that there are seven days remaining for the withdrawal of candidature.

“This time is more than enough to arrive at a decision. If the Congress is really serious about saving Goa’s identity then there should be no hesitation on its part. They would grab the offer with both hands,” Parab stated.

He then added that both the party’s candidates will file their respective nominations in North and South Goa on April 18. “Our party candidates will file nominations on April 18 but we will wait for the Congress till April 20 to see if they are willing to accept our demands,” he informed.
