PANAJI: A Nigerian national, who was earlier jailed in a narcotics case and later kept in a detention centre, has been arrested again by the Crime Branch for allegedly possessing psychotropic substances. The accused, identified as Joseph Ifeanyi Ozoemena (44), was caught early on Wednesday in Siolim after a targeted raid based on specific intelligence inputs.
The Crime Branch said the team seized 17.580 grams of suspected amphetamine, valued at around Rs 2 lakh. A two-wheeler and a mobile phone were also recovered from him. He allegedly tried to flee but was overpowered and taken into custody.
Ozoemena was earlier arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Cell in 2017 and spent around seven years in jail. After his release in 2024, he was lodged at the detention centre in Mapusa. He was later released in December 2025 following an order of the High Court of Bombay at Goa.
