The State government on Thursday informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that all roads under the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) have been completed and opened to the public, with only beautification works remaining.

During the hearing of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL), Advocate General Devidas Pangam submitted to the Division Bench that the landscaping and beautification are underway and are expected to be completed within the extended deadline of June 30.

“All roads are open for the public. Only beautification is pending, works of which are ongoing and will be completed within the deadline,” Pangam assured the Court. The matter has now been adjourned to July 15.

Earlier, IPSCDL had committed to completing all remaining work, including footpaths and landscaping, by the end of June 2025. The Court had accepted the assurance and granted the extension last year, in June 2024.

Interestingly, IPSCDL, which had previously distanced itself from three stretches in the capital city — Atmaram Borkar Road, 18th June Road and Dr Pandurang Pissurlekar Road — recently reportedly claimed responsibility for fixing them. The then Chief Executive Officer, Sanjit Rodrigues, had earlier claimed these roads did not fall under the Smart City mission.
