LPG cylinder deliveries in Cuncolim and nearby areas may be disrupted after the proprietor of a local gas agency threatened to suspend operations following an alleged assault on delivery staff.
Amay Ghodekar, proprietor of Ms Multi Traders, alleged on Tuesday evening that the driver and loader of an LPG delivery van were assaulted at Kedgicotto in Cuncolim. He claimed that both workers have expressed their intention to quit their jobs following the incident.
Cuncolim police station in charge PI Diogo Gracias stated that the altercation was not related to any LPG shortage or delivery issue, but stemmed from a traffic-related dispute. He said the delivery van had reached Kedgicotto to distribute cylinders when a large number of consumers gathered, leading to congestion on the narrow road. A four-wheeler driver, unable to pass through, got into a heated argument with the van’s driver and loader, which escalated into a confrontation.
Police said they are investigating the complaint regarding the alleged assault and assured that appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty.
